Step 01
Prepare the recipient information
Ask the recipient for their bank’s payment instructions. The required fields depend on the destination and route, so use those instructions as your starting point.
- Recipient name exactly as shown on the receiving account.
- Destination country and the currency to be received.
- Account number or IBAN, where the route requires it.
- Bank name and routing information, such as BIC/SWIFT or a local bank code, where required.
- Payment purpose and the reference the recipient needs.
Check changes to bank details with the recipient through a trusted contact method before arranging a payment. Share full bank details only through the payment process specified for your account.
Step 02
Confirm the route with OWN
Before preparing a payment, confirm that the destination, currency and recipient type are supported for your account. A country appearing on a map does not confirm a particular route.
- Note whether the payment is personal or business.
- Identify the source currency, recipient currency, destination country and intended amount.
- Ask OWN which route is available and which recipient fields or supporting information it requires.
See the standard payment fees. Keep a general enquiry to the outline above. Do not include credentials or full recipient account details.
Step 03
Separate exchange from the payment
If the balance currency and payment currency differ, confirm how the conversion is handled before you authorise the payment.
| Check | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Source balance | Which currency will be debited. |
| Exchange | The actual quote, any conversion charge and quote validity. |
| Payment amount | The currency and amount instructed for the recipient. |
| Total debit | The payment, exchange and applicable charges together. |
The website’s reference exchange rate is indicative. Use the confirmed quote for the actual payment.
Step 04
Review the payment before authorising
- Compare the recipient name and bank details with the original bank instructions.
- Check the currency, amount, purpose and reference.
- Review the total debit and whether recipient or intermediary charges may apply.
- Confirm expected processing timing and whether more information is needed.
- Authorise only when the information and terms are correct.
If the recipient must receive an exact amount, ask how charges will be treated before proceeding. Do not assume the instructed amount and the amount credited will always be identical.
Step 05
Keep the reference and follow up
Retain the confirmation and transaction reference supplied for your payment. Use the status shown in your account or the information provided by OWN to follow its progress.
- For a delay, give support the payment reference and date.
- For incorrect details, contact OWN promptly and describe the error.
- Before repeating a payment, confirm the status of the first instruction.
Receipt timing can depend on checks and the receiving route. A recall, amendment or refund is subject to the actual payment conditions; ask OWN about the specific instruction.
